The Rutgers-Newark Chemistry Department offers a course of study leading to a B.A. degree in Chemistry certified by the American Chemical Society. After completing the program, recent graduates have taken up positions in the chemical or pharmaceutical industry. Others entered medical school, and some have continued their studies of chemistry or biochemistry in excellent graduate programs around the country.

To qualify for American Chemical Society certification, students must complete six credits of graduate chemistry courses (500-level) in addition to the requirements for the B.A. degree.

Students interested in joining the undergraduate chemistry program at Rutgers-Newark are encouraged to contact Dr. Sheridan ((jsheridn@rutgers.edu), the undergraduate advisor, and please see the chemistry majors page for more information. Contact the Rutgers Admissions Office for information about applying to Rutgers-Newark.
