UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH

Chemical Research (160:451,452) is a course for Rutgers-Newark chemistry majors (usually juniors or seniors) doing independent research in a faculty research laboratory. Students must make special arrangements with a member of the faculty before registering for the course, and obtain a special permission number from Dr. Sheridan. At the end of the semester, students must submit a report of their research progress.

The Minority Biomedical Research Program (MBRS) offers a broad range of research opportunities. Contact the MBRS office at 973-353-5772 for application information. Also check the MBRS web page for more details.

Every summer, the National Science Foundation sponsors undergraduate research universities (REU sites) throughout the U.S. Look out for postings in the early Spring semester. Students from Rutgers-Newark can apply to any of these programs. Most programs include a summer stipend and housing arrangements for student participants.

Additional undergraduate research opportunities my be found posted on the bulletin board near the elevator on the second floor of Olson Hall. These are usually posted in January and February.
