TENURE-TRACK POSITION IN THEORETICAL CHEMISTRY

The Department of Chemistry at Rutgers University-Newark invites applications for a tenure-track position in the area of theoretical chemistry. While we anticipate hiring at the assistant professor level, exceptional candidates at the associate professor level may be considered. The hire will be expected to establish a vigorous, externally funded research program and to contribute to teaching at both graduate (PhD & MS) and undergraduate levels. It would be a useful, but not essential attribute, that elements of the candidate's research program permit interactions with other Department members. A PhD in chemistry, chemical physics or a closely related field and postdoctoral experience are required. Competitive start-up funds commensurate with the needs of the specific investigator will be provided. The anticipated starting date is September 2012. The Rutgers-Newark Chemistry Department has enjoyed a period of dynamic growth over the past decade with a strong emphasis on excellence in research. The collegial atmosphere of the department promotes collaborations and joint projects.

Applications consisting of a cover letter, curriculum vitae, research plan (5-7 pages) and a statement of teaching philosophy (~2 pages), should be sent in PDF format to:

chemfac@newark.rutgers.edu
In addition, the candidate should arrange for three confidential letters of recommendation from scientists familiar with the applicant's research achievements and teaching potential, to be sent either to the above E-mail location or mailed to:
