TENURE-TRACK POSITION IN EXPERIMENTAL PHYSICAL CHEMISTRY

The Department of Chemistry at Rutgers University-Newark invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in experimental physical chemistry. We are especially interested in candidates who apply advanced spectroscopy and imaging methods to study complex chemical or biochemical systems, including polymers, biomolecules, nanostructures, colloids and interfaces. The hire will be expected to establish a vigorous, externally funded research program and to contribute to teaching at both graduate (PhD and MS) and undergraduate levels. A PhD in chemistry or a closely related field and postdoctoral experience are required. Competitive start-up funds commensurate with the needs of the specific area will be provided. The anticipated starting date is September 2010. The Rutgers-Newark Chemistry Department has enjoyed a period of dynamic growth over the past decade. All members hired since the mid-1990s received tenure and support active research groups. The collegial atmosphere of the department is conducive to collaborations and joint projects.

Applications consisting of a cover letter, curriculum vitae, research plan and a statement of teaching philosophy, as well as three confidential letters of recommendation from persons familiar with the applicant's research achievements and teaching potential, should be sent in PDF format to:
